attended CS106: Speech & Presentation tutorial today.
& to see our public speaking skills, we're to talk about our name.

Koo Mei Yan Joanna
how did i get my name?
honestly, i duno..but i know my christian name - Joanna, was chosen by my aunt instead of by my parents..my chinese name..i duno also..but me n my sisters all have "mei" as the second word of our name..

What does my name means?
Joanna in hebrew means "God is gracious"
Mei (美) means beautiful
Yan (燕) means ??? hee..i also duno..

Do i like it?
Well..i like Joanna cos it speaks of God's grace for me..& everything is bcos of Him & His finished work on the cross..
my surname is Koo (符)..so i am a happy & blessed girl cos 我是幸福(姓符)的..ok..if you're not chinese..dun bother to find out..if you understand..it's lame la..but true right? haha..
my chinese name is Mei Yan (美燕) which can means beautiful (美艳)..but i dun think i am..haha..& i used to have this childish thot that if i ever become a star..my name will be so traditional aka 老土 aka obiang..how to be famous? haahaa..ridiculous me!!!

anyway..funny things abt my name..
in Cedar, there's me & joanna lee in bball & then sec 2,3 & 4 we're in the same class..
then..during sec 3, there was the J.Lo craze..so we are called j.koo & j.lee by the class..up till now they also call us that..& i dun think that will change..& during O levels preparations, me & j.lee studied together after lessons in sch..so when ppl say bye to us, it'll be "Bye, Joanna...s" haha..must add "s" behind to indicate they acknowledge both of us..so funny...
in CS, there was this tutor last sem - kk (102) who keep mixing my name up with this other girl in the class called joanne..e thing is..he remembers both of us..just that he'll call joanne joanna & call me joanne..weird teacher...

well..i can't think of anything else abt my name that's worth mentioning..so if you hv..can tell me..hee....

***1st week of sch***
tues: had 2 lectures in e morn..Dr Aquila is entertaining! think i'll enjoy her lectures..Dr Lee W.P. was super enthu n trying very hard to make e boring module of research to sound fun..so funny lor..after that i had 3+ hrs of training at night! so tiring! felt like my body was breaking apart..but it was super enjoyable!!! haha..do i sound very 自虐? but really..hard n intensive training then is call training ma..i like this kind of training.. :p

wed: woke up super early cos got 830 lec..barely had 4 hrs of slp..but lec was fun! hee..it was "understanding chinese cinema" which means 1 movie every lecture! & it's like literature..you are really required to go in depth into e movie and discuss abt why there's such themes, e historical background n stuff lidat..after that was 105 tutorial! 1st week only & we had to had in a write up by next week..sucks! but e tutor like not bad..so hopefully it's ok..at night..there was hall supper..haha..so fun..

thurs: got 105 lec again..then after that i went to work n bible study..

fri: came back from hm for 106 lec..e lecturer is so yiao! & she doesn't smile at all! sighs..gg to be another boring lec..but she a bit drama mama..in e middle of e lec she shouted "BOO!" to get our attention n to point out something..so funny..after that i went for my 1st ever jap lesson! it's so weird cos once i step in, e tutor spoke to me in jap! & i dun understand a single word! so cheem! but fun!
ohayo gozaimasu! watashi wa Joanna desu.
after that went for caregroup..kok haw's last cg with us..gonna miss him..this mighty man of God! & timothy is my new caregroup leader..anyway..timothy was sharing what Pastor Darren was sharing abt e holy spirit & all we need to do to answer God's prompting is just simply to obey..& i remember one testimony to share!

During e exam period last sem, i was a bit panicking cos i din study..i started studying e day before e 1st exam, CS101..when i started..nothing was gg into my brain..then i felt this prompting to read out loud from e text/notes..i've nv studied reading out loud..so i feel quite silly..but since shuyuan was not in..i had e hall room to myself..so i studied out loud! & i could remember more easily!! Praise God!! it's really that simple! and i got a B- for it..this year is definitely gg to be a year where i'll be led by the holy spirit!

haven been blogging..had a pretty busy week..so i shall briefly say what i've been doing..

- 24/12 -
played IHG match in which we won..think e score was 78 to 2 or somewhere ard there..then went to biaojie's hse in e evening..watched "A Blessed Christmas" together..haha..she keep ooh-ing & aah-ing abt whether can see her face on TV (she was part of e white christmas tree)..anyway..it's great to see NCC's worship leaders singing on national TV..glorifying Jesus!!!
after that i watched 3 episodes of 天涯侠医..

- 25/12 -
went to church service at indoor stadium..then went to eat lunch with gu jie, biaojie, diana, sandra and sandra's fren at marina square foodcourt..after that met mum before gg to 三舅父's hse for christmas bbq..had fun thou i keep getting suan by tong 舅父..

- 26/12 -
sentosa outing with my family..played e sentosa luge for e 1st time..it's really quite fun!! but quite a long wait cos e queue was LONG!!! then me, ber n biaojie just slack ard siloso beach when gu jie & 叔叔 bring grandma & jeremy in to underwater world..

- 27/12 -
slack at home e whole morn n early afternoon..then went to sue ann's hse for a sleepover with jane, shuyuan, sun xu n huiyi (but she nv stay over)..ate mac for dinner while watching "Mean Girls" on HBO..then we watch dvds - "Amityville Horror" (which is not very horrifying cos i watch b4..) n 15 mins of "Princess Diaries 2" (it's quite boring lei..1st one nicer..) after that..we went to her room n had girls' talk till 5+ am!! work up at ard 7+ cos she hafta go out..

- 28/12 -
well..after e sleepover, went market with grandma before gg hm to slp..woke up & went back to hall for level 7 steamboat dinner with 6 other ppl..hanyu, susan, wenting, joselyn, stella n tanny..had so much fun! haha..(photos can be found on hanyu's blog..) anyway..it was a healthy dinner..haha..except e ice cream at e end.. ;p

- 29/12 -
training in e morn..after that..rush to orchard to go kbox with xuelin at cine..had so much fun singing with her! all e cantonese songs.. :) so glad to have this fren who's a TVB fan like me! hee..let's go ktv again ya?

- 30/12 -
went to ikea with biaojie to look at stuff for her new hse..& i bought brown paper to wrap stuff..haha..then went to her hse to watch 阿旺新传..

- 31/12 -
spent e entire day watching 阿旺新传..only stop to go buy lunch or go toilet..hee..but i went hm at night..shall blog abt e show aother time..

- 01/01 -
usual sunday..go service..then work..till 9pm this time..
difference?
i finally took all my christmas presents hm..
fav is this white pencil case from shihui! love it!

- 02/01 -
went to eat lunch with RGBC ppl at hokkaido hot pot at Paradiz Centre..
lillian, james, nathan, val, angela, shihui n danny..
& they treated me & danny!!! thanks dears!!!
felt so blessed n favoured!!! e food is GOOD!
recommended!!! shld be ard $25-$30 per head..
after that i went hm to get stuff before gg back hall..
